Here Wild Horse demonstrate for the first (but certainly not the last) time on this album just how effectively they can hit the listener in the feels…the ‘80s synths, the fuzzy bass, the haunting guitar and the building drums provide an emotional blend allowing for the pleading vocals, describing the inevitability of change in a relationship, despite how all one wants is for everything to stay just how it is…the song builds to a crescendo when the vocals begin to accept that, in the bigger picture, things will be absolutely fine.

Lyrics

CHORUS
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go

VERSE 1
On a midnight drive
Haven’t passed my test yet
I’m just second guessing where I am
Though it’s not that far
I just can’t find comfort
Knowing you’ll be moving on soon

CHORUS
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go

VERSE 2
Though it’s not that far
I just can’t conform to this
Even though I know it will be fine
But it’s not that hard
Cause I know for a fact it will
It will get easier with time

CHORUS
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go

BRIDGE
And though I said it’s not hard
It is taking over me
And even though I try
It won’t release its grip on me
And I know, oh
It’s not over
But there’s still a part of me that’s scared
And it grows, and it grows
As you go, as you go
As you go

BREAKDOWN
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go
Don’t want you to go
Go
Go

OUTRO CHORUS
It’s the wait that’s cold
It’s the wait that’s cold
And although I’m nearly broken
Hearts will keep on hoping
It’s the wait that’s cold
It’s the wait that’s cold
And although I’m nearly broken
Hearts will keep on hoping tonight
